After the devasting earthquake in south Marathwada in 1993, Jnana Prabodhini rushed for help. It undertook vocational rehabilitation and medical service with the assistance worth Rs Forty Lakhs from our friends abroad.
In 1995, the villagers of Harali- a far off village in deep interior, requested Prabodhini to start a quality school for the area. So, a primary and secondary school started on no grant-in-aid and no fees basis. Earlier school was run in Maruti temple later it shifted to dilapidated shed. With generous donation from Japanese gonernment and two friend in Pune- Shri Y.G. Patwardhan and Shri vasantrao gogate, the school building is now costructed. A villager of Harali donated 9 acres of land for the school. At present, the total strength of the school is 425 of which 282 are boarders. They hail from 150 different villages. Only moderate charges are taken for boarding
Horticulture for self-reliance: It was necessary to find a source through which the school could earn for itself in future. At present over 10,000 saplings have been planted on 35 acres. The plants include guava, mango, tamarind, lemon custard apple, drumsticks, amala and ber. in coming five years the plants will start giving yields and earn some money.
Market information center: This provides information about current market prices of the agricultural produce and demonstrates the use of drip-irrigation and sprinklers.
Computer center: There is computer trainning center which educates young men and women in surroundig villages. It is recognized by Maharashtra Center for Enterpreneurship Development(MCED)
